What we built together
What else happened
Every morning the gathering begins with a form of yoga, meditation and/or movement practice. This is to support our participants own efforts in establishing a healthy consistent routine that provides them the spaciousness and time to arrive into a new day energised. Practices include: Kundalini Yoga with Aurelie Chauleur, Ashtanga Yoga by Joao Cascao, Hatha Yoga by Jeska Onderwater, Social Presencing Theatre with Rita Venturini and 5rhythms dance with Anna Maria Bosky.
Dragon Dreaming is a playful, inspiring, encouraging and meaningful method for assisting individuals and groups who seek to make their dreams come true. For those who seek a pathway of making a difference in their own lives and the lives of others. This workshop was facilitated by Virgilio Varela .
Women and men have gathered since the most ancient times and across all cultures: to give birth, to bleed together, to take care of each other, to share wisdom. The moment we lost these habits, we lost the ancient wisdom of our grandmothers and grandfathers and we grew disconnected from the Moon, the Earth and our innate inner cycle.
But today, more and more women and men are remembering, looking back at the sky, putting their hands on the soil, feeling the call to gather again, in sisterhood and brotherhood. It is by uniting that we inspire and empower one another. Welcome to the rebirth of the healthy feminine and masculine. Womens circle was run by Sara Rica Goncalves and mens circle by Joao Vaz.
Massage therapy relaxes muscle tissue, which reduces painful contractions and spasms. Massage can also reduce nerve compression. To understand this, consider that when muscles are contracted, they sometimes compress the nerves around them. This was led by Flydeeper, Ofer Rosenthal..
Agroforestry and Permaculture are the backbone of regenerative and self sustainable community building. We use natures patterns and wisdom to increase biodiversity and reduce soil erosion in the spaces we are in. Learning concrete principles and tools to take home with us when planting and re-wilding our own gardens, and build community resilience. Workshops were taught by Frederica Teixeira, part of the WAKESEED Association.
Nutrition is the backbone of any healthy sustainable lifestyle. What you eat is important but they key is to recognise that one size does not fit all. At Primal Gathering, we integrate modalities such as Ayurveda and Macrobiotics into the day to day kitchen and teach tools to empower each person to get to know themselves better. Each participant leaves understanding what their bodies need to feel nourished, with concrete tools and recipes to use at home. These workshops are run by our Holistic Health and Nutrition facilitator Danah Morlife.
Natural Building is building something in an ethical and conscious way, using local and organic materials, local services and resources and utilising the intelligence and power of your team whilst you build. During Primal Natural Building Gathering in August 2019 we collectively co-created and built an herb garden structure that sits outside the small dojo at Quinta Ten Chi, Sintra, Portugal with the help of our partners LiveWithEarth.
Can I speak my truth to my loved ones and be accepted the way I am?
Authentic Relating is a communication tool that equips people with sentence structures they can use in their day to day life to speak authentically and vulnerably with one another about what is really happening in the present moment. It is also a fantastic conflict resolution tool which is used inside the organisation of Primal Gathering and shared with its participants as a way to build trust. These sessions were facilitated by Adriana Candeis
All food was bought and sourced from local farms, held to a zero waste standard and cooked by the amazing Dafne Esteves Vaz
Claudio Gomes walked us through how to naturally make our soap in an hour.
